Experience
For a large portion of my life, I've held some sort of leadership role where I was able to help assist people in reaching their goals. This experience has taught me how having a mentor can go a long way in helping someone succeed later in life, which is why I feel so passionately about working with children in a one-on-one setting. Along with classroom management skills, I believe that another component that makes a good teacher is personality. An educator needs to be patient, understanding, and able to adapt their curriculum on a whim to fit the needs of the student. For this reason, I believe that the best way to help your pupil succeed in the classroom is to adopt a student-centered learning approach that encourages them to participate and enjoy themselves throughout every lesson. Along with tutoring, I've also helped people from all walks of life learn how to dance. I also ran a religious education program as part of an after school study group, as well as worked as a counselor at a local recreational department. I'm currently working as special education teacher in Vermont, where I work primarily with kindergarteners and students in first and second grade.
